September 2020 Circle Letter

Women of the ELCA

He who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.  Philippians 1:6

It’s hard to believe that we’re almost in the third quarter of 2020.  What a year this has been!  I hope that this finds you well and beginning to get back to some of the things that we used to do in our everyday lives.

Please join us for worship in the Sanctuary on September 13th.  Social Ministry will be hosting a sidewalk tea after each of the services in the area outside the church doors.  For those who have not been back to the church for services it is set up with alternately designated pews for each of the services.  Our Sanctuary has ample space to accommodate many more people than we usually have at each of our services.  Communion is set up so that you receive the body and blood as you’re exiting the church with disposable communion cups.  We are following guidelines for social distancing so that we don’t unintentionally expose anyone to the virus.

We cannot provide our usual quilts and kits this year but we hope to have a LWR Spaghetti Dinner in September.  We don’t have firm plans as yet but it would be a take-out meal which would help us raise funds to provide a monetary donation for 2020. Please feel free to send your donation to the church made out to “WELCA”.

In October Social Ministry is planning a take-out Fish Fry meal.  We hope you’ll make reservations to pick up meals for you and your family to take home and enjoy.

In October we usually have a WELCA Bi-Annual meeting and I would like to get input from everyone to determine if we should postpone this year.  We have lots of room in Hoffner Hall for social distancing and it would be wonderful to see everyone again.

Please don’t forget to contact our shut-ins by card or telephone and let them know that we’re thinking about them.  It’s most important in this time when personal contact is so minimal.

I’ve included a Shut-In list which should remain in effect until the end of the year.  The ministry of WELCA for Circle 19 in September is helping with 11:00 Communion and in October 8:30 Communion.  I don’t believe that Altar Guild requires any assistance since the elements are disposable but of course it wouldn’t hurt to ask whomever is serving on Altar Guild.

The Craft Group is still meeting on Thursday mornings and we’re not doing a lot of sewing.  We sometimes do maintenance tasks around the church that are brought to our attention.  If you’re free and would like to come and visit with us we’d love to have you.  We meet Thursday mornings in Hoffner Hall from 9AM until Noon, most days.  Also, the Work Crew is always in need of volunteers.  They are usually working on Thursdays and if you can work any other day that would be great too.  Just contact Erin Foose for information.

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.                                                                                                                         Galatians 6:9

In Christian Love,
